Automations: the essentials and your own

Your store starts with seven essential automations turned on. Here’s how they work and how to add more.

The essentials, turned on for you

Every new Cartmojo store starts with seven essential automations switched on: abandoned cart recovery, a welcome series, a first-order thank-you, a review request, win-back for lapsed customers, back in stock and a purchase anniversary.

They start sending once your postal address is set. Until then, any emails they would send are held rather than sent.

Four of them (abandoned cart, welcome, win-back and anniversary) include a discount offer in their last email.

These are marketing emails, so they only go to customers who’ve opted in, and each one has an unsubscribe link.

Add a ready-made automation

Prefer to start from scratch? Choose Build your own in the same gallery.

  1. 1Go to Marketing → Automations and choose Add automation.
  2. 2Pick an automation from the gallery. It’s added as a draft, and nothing sends yet.
  3. 3Review the emails and timing, then choose Turn on.

Control who gets them

Each automation has sending controls on its edit page: Usage limit (how many times one customer can go through it), Send at most once per customer every (a time window), and Never send to (addresses or whole domains to skip).

Emails waiting on a delay are listed on the automation’s page, where you can send one now or cancel it.

Editing an active automation

You can edit an automation while it’s on. Customers who start it after you save get the new version. Customers already part-way through finish the steps they started with, so nobody gets an email twice or skips one.
